Shopping in Vitória
Shopping in Brazil is a popular activity, and most shopping malls are crowded at the weekends. In addition to shopping, malls in Brazil offer an opportunity to enjoy the air conditioning and escape the heat! The shops in Vitória are very similiar to shopping options in other Brazilian cities, and offer a wide range of goods and products.
Join the locals and rush to the shops to either have a look around, buy a souvenir or just enjoy the entertainment around the shopping areas in Vitória!
To make your shopping experience in Vitória an unforgettable one, we have provided some valuable information in our Vitória Shopping Guide below. You can also take a look at our Brazil Shopping Guide, which will provide you with some general information about shopping in Brazil. While out hunting for the best deals, be sure to try one of the local dishes at one of the many Vitória restaurants located around the shopping precinct.
Shopping Malls
Vitória shopping malls abound. Don’t miss the best purchase options in our shopping malls and take time to bring home gifts and souvenirs from Vitória. There are many options for shopping centres, including the most famous 'Shopping Vitoria'. Vitoria is also home to the 'Shopping Norte-Sul' and the 'Shopping Jardins'. You won't only find a good buy, but also beautiful people, great fun and plenty of food!
Shopping at Praia do Canto
Sectioned off by the Yacht Club of Espírito Santo and a bridge, the Praia do Canto is an excellent place to do some Vitória shopping in peace and quiet. With pleasant, tree-lined streets, the region has stores that offer the best Brazilian brands. Walking down the streets of the Praia do Canto, you can find all the desired Vitória souvenirs, in addition to excellent Vitoria restaurants and coffee shops, without the tumult of the normal shopping centres.
Brazilian Leather and Gold
Brazilian leather is functional and durable, and you can pick up some nice wallets, shoes, belts, hats and pieces of luggage. Semi-precious stones like opal, topaz, emerald and amethyst, set in 18-carat Brazilian gold, also figure prominently in some malls. H. Stern is well known for good reliable jewellery.
Local Handicrafts
If you are a football fan, then you can enjoy shopping for memorabilia of the Brazilian football team. For other Brazil souvenir ideas, pick up ceramics, Indian artifacts, Brazilian coffee, hammocks, papagaio or parrot kites, rosewood products and sculptures. If you are on the beach, then you will be witness to a continuous procession of vendors. While most of them are selling food and something to wash it down with, others sell music, jewellery, oysters and nuts. And ladies, you can't miss out on the famous Brazilian bikinis! You simply don't get these back home!
Clay Pans
The traditional clay pan, the ideal recipient for the preparation of moqueca (a traditional fish strew dish), can be found in various places around the city; it’s also the best representation of a local Capixaba handicraft. Goiabeiras is the traditional place to find these pans in Vitória. The Association of the Pans in Goiabeiras works to conserve this tradition, which has been passed from mothers to daughters for at least 400 years. Pans sold by the Association have the specific Quality Stamp of Clay Pans that was created by the city hall of Vitória. The sales are made directly in the stores of the Association.
Exotic fruits
You must buy and try some of the fruits that Brazil is famous for all over the world. Head for the feira, which is a weekly market for fruits and vegetables. Brazil leads the world in the production of apples. Bananas also remain a firm favourite, eaten fried or as garnish for other dishes. Try out the various varieties of citrus like lima, an orange with a bittersweet taste. Then there are large tasty papayas which are used to make crème de papaya, a tasty Brazilian dessert. There are also pineapples, which are white inside and very sweet, and avocados, from which you can make milk drinks called vitaminas.
